UNAIDS would like to invite potential individual translators in providing part time translation services, either from Indonesian to English or English to Indonesian or both services, for publications produced by UNAIDS Secretariat in Indonesia. Selected translators will be granted Short Service Agreements (SSA) for 12-months duration in part time basis with fixed translation rate per translation project.

These documents will be used as the basis for selecting potential candidates. The candidates will be selected by a panel consisting of staff members from UNAIDS and UNDP. The criteria for selection would include the extent of experience in providing translation services.

Background
The Indonesia Partnership Fund for HIV/AIDS has been established as one of the funding sources for the national response to HIV/AIDS through the National Action Framework on AIDS 2005-2007. The National AIDS Commission will manage the fund, with UNDP providing financial management services and UNAIDS secretariat providing technical review and assistance.

The main focus area of the UNAIDS Secretariat is to ensure coordination and harmonization among main implementing partners and stakeholders and in particular to support the National AIDS commission in implementing the national action plan for HIV/AIDS in 100 districts and cities throughout the country.

Development of HIV/AIDS strategic publications is a crucial part of the work to ensure widely disseminated up-to-date and reliable data, information and analysis on global, regional and country trends in the epidemic, its impact, and the response, to support advocacy and inform policy and strategy formulation by all partners.

By a formal request from the National AIDS Commission, the secretariat of UNAIDS in Indonesia has established a NAC Support Unit to support the implementation of UNAIDS support-plan for the NAC. Under this unit, part time translators / editors are required to assist the NAC support unit in the execution of the support-plan in the development of HIV/AIDS strategic information / publications.

Main tasks and Responsibilities of the Position
Under the NAC Support Unit, the translators / editors will work on part time basis to support the execution of the UNAIDS support-plan in the development of HIV/AIDS strategic information / publications.
The main responsibility of part time translators are to provide translation and editing services in Bahasa Indonesia and in English as required during the production of guidelines, key materials and reference documents including best practices and existing materials from global references on HIV/AIDS
UNAIDS Programme Coordinator will provide the overall supervision for the implementation of the support-plan while UNAIDS Country Coordinator and NAC National Project Director will provide overall guidance.

Qualification requirements
1. Extensive experience for 3-5 years in providing translation services from Indonesian to English or from English to Indonesian or both services
2. Bachelor Degree (S1)
3. Understanding of HIV/AIDS-related issues and advocacy is an advantage
4. Ability to work in a team and meet management schedules
5. Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Power Point, Access and internet applications
